On a 24–60 month agreement the monthly figure covers the machine, installation, filtration, scheduled servicing and breakdown cover with an agreed response time. Longer terms lower the monthly cost because the machine cost spreads further. The clause to check is early exit: a fair agreement states the remaining-term liability plainly, and an unfair one buries an administration charge on top of it.
Short-term hire from one month
Short-term hire suits refits, seasonal units, market pitches and cover while an owned machine is repaired. Expect £160–£400 a month for a tank-fed or compact plumbed machine, delivered and collected, with a minimum of one month. It costs more per month than a long contract by design; the compensation is that nothing binds you afterwards.
Where hire is the wrong word for the job
Exhibition stands, conferences, weddings and festivals need a barista, a power plan and a service crew, not a machine on a monthly agreement. That work is a staffed event service and we do not pretend otherwise — a business hire contract will not serve an event well, and we will tell you when the requirement is an event rather than an installation.
Hire, rental or lease: choosing on facts
If the need is under six months, hire short-term. If it is ongoing and you want no capital outlay and no repair risk, hire or rent long-term. If you want to own the machine at the end, take lease-to-own. If you already use serious coffee volume, free-loan removes the machine charge entirely.
